State investigators were called in to the UC Irvine Medical Center after five patients experienced accidental overdoses. Initial claims by hospital nurses were that the drug pumps were faulty but, internal study found nurses to have insufficient training and oversight to correctly administer medications. Linda Ackerman, RNC committee woman and wife of recently termed out, State Senator Dick Ackerman, officially joined the race for the seat being vacated by Mike Duvall.
