State investigators were called in to the UC Irvine Medical Center after five patients experienced accidental overdoses. Initial claims by hospital nurses were that the drug pumps were faulty but, internal study found nurses to have insufficient training and oversight to correctly administer medications.  New chief executive, Terry A. Belmont, promised immediate action. “When we say we’re going to do something, we do it,” Belmont said. “Going forward, that’s what we’re going to do.”  WHOLE STORY

25-year old Ryan Seacrest fan assaulted a security guard at Children’s Hospital of Orange County for keeping him out of Seacrest’s passenger seat.  The fan attempted to get in the car with “American Idol” host Seacrest as he left a charity event at the hospital.   WHOLE STORY

Linda Ackerman, RNC committee woman and wife of recently termed out, State Senator Dick Ackerman, officially joined the race for the seat being vacated by Mike Duvall.  After her announcement was made, another seat hopeful, Jon Dumitru stepped aside in order to put his support behind Ackerman.  ”Republicans needed to select a candidate who was conservative, free from scandal, and would uphold the Party Platform. Mission Viejo lawyer, Orly Taitz, a leader in the nation’s “birther” movement which contends that President Obama was actually born in Kenya, was given a slap on the wrist by Georgia judge.  After her most recent lawsuit on behalf of an Army captain was thrown out, the judge threatened Taitz with sanctions if she brought forth another “frivilous” lawsuit that, “a middle school student could find irony in.”  WHOLE STORY
