The Department of Orange County Environmental Health will issue “grades” to Orange County restaurants. Placards outside of eating establishments will read either, “Pass: An acceptable level of compliance was achieved. No reinspection is required, Reinspection Due-Pass: Violations that may cause foodborne illness were observed and corrected. A follow-up inspection will be conducted on the date posted on the seal to ensure continued compliance or Closed: Violation(s) observed posed an imminent danger to public health or safety, which could not be immediately corrected. The Orange County District Attorney’s office has gathered DNA samples from more than 15,000 people over the last nine months and hope to begin using the database for criminal investigations soon. Several of the samples have been taken in return for dropping petty charges. WHOLE STORY
The ability of the Ethics Committee in Sacramento to investigate ex-Assemblyman Mike Duvall ended when he resigned from his post. Rules of the committee state that only sitting legislators may be investigated.
