The Orange County Register’s parent company, Freedom Communications, heads into its first hearing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court today. The hearing is to determine if unsecured creditors will get paid and how much. The creditors are owed approximately $300 million. A proposed plan would give them about $5 million. WHOLE STORY
Ex-Sheriff Mike Carona and Former Sheriff Lt. Bill Hunt faced off in court yesterday. Hunt is suing Carona and the county for his demotion after he ran for Sheriff against his former boss. WHOLE STORY

Primoris Services Corporation, a Lake Forest-based construction and engineering firm, bought Craven Partners Ltd., a Houston-based construction firm. The deal was made for an unrevealed amount. The purchase included cash and stocks. WHOLE STORY
The 2009 Workforce Development Conference, sponsored by the Orange County Business Council and the Orange County Workforce Investment Board, has sold out. Former Paramount Pictures CEO Sherry Lansing is this year’s featured speaker. Although the event is sold out, anyone interested in attending the event can be put on a waiting list. MORE INFO
The median home price in Orange County has risen. According to a MDA DataQuick statistics, the county’s median home price rose almost a full percentage point from September 2008 to September 2009. It is the first annual rise in the median price since August 2007. WHOLE STORY
