The UC board of regents is contemplating another tuition hike for the UC system that would bring resident student tuition to $7,473 (without room, board and books) and non-resident student tuition to $10,260. Leavey, a popular teacher at Rancho San Joaquin Middle School, and her family have received an outpouring of support from the community and beyond. The City of Placentia, with the help of the Orange County Transportation Authority, will pay Caltrans $5.5 M to settle the claim that Placentia mis-managed more than $36 M in state funds for an underground railroad. In June, the Disney hotel worker union cut sick pay from its health plan, claiming Disney did not pay enough to cover the benefit. Disney claims that they have a health plan with sick pay that the union is welcome to join. In the meantime, workers are going to work with flu like symptoms, claiming there is no other way.
