OC Supes have approved a resolution asking Governor Schwarzenegger to stop plans to sell the Orange County Fairgrounds. Though the supervisors initially approved the sale, the uproar caused by the proposal is proving more trouble than it’s worth. WHOLE STORY

STAY club (Students Thinking About Youth) girls of Newport Heights are making cookies and other snacks to sell at bake sales to support their school library. These girls will be going on to Junior High next year and want to leave better books for older kids and a permanent recycling bin behind. WHOLE STORY
Started in 2004 to honor a student “with a record of honesty, integrity, fairness and service to others,” the XIV Dalai Lama Endowed Scholarship goes this year to UCI student, JASMINE FANG. Samantha Coxe saw a TV commercial showing how children’s lives are changed with facial surgeries and was hooked. She started an Operation Smile Club at school and has just returned from an OS trip to Vietnam where she got to see for herself.
