For eight babies whose first few months of life were peppered with flash bulbs and controversy, the quiet birthday celebrations for the Suleman octuplets are unique. Martin Kuehl never saw Martha Ovalle as she was crossing the street, but he hit her and she died at the scene. Kuehl had been texting back and forth for a half hour when the accident occurred. He will be sentenced on March 12th for the felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence conviction and could face nine years in prison. WHOLE STORY
After a record breaking bad year in auto sales in 2009, forecasters predict sunshine in 2010 with sales of about 109,000 cars, which is a 13% rise over last year. New cars saw growth up 8.3% in November and 10.5% in December, which should bode well for the year. WHOLE STORY (Toyota’s halt in sales may affect this forecast)
