In his first State of the Union address, President Obama spoke to domestic issues such as the economy, health care, education and immigration and touched on continued foreign policy issues.  Orange County resident reactions were mixed.  WHOLE STORY

Martin Kuehl never saw Martha Ovalle as she was crossing the street, but he hit her and she died at the scene.  Kuehl had been texting back and forth for a half hour when the accident occurred.  He will be sentenced on March 12th for the felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence conviction and could face nine years in prison.   WHOLE STORY

After a record breaking bad year in auto sales in 2009, forecasters predict sunshine in 2010 with sales of about 109,000 cars, which is a 13% rise over last year.  New cars saw growth up 8.3% in November and 10.5% in December, which should bode well for the year.  WHOLE STORY (Toyota’s halt in sales may affect this forecast)
