A student at Huntington Beach High School brought a fake bomb to school causing an evacuation of the school. Police arrested the student and he was taken to Orange County Juvenile Hall. WHOLE STORY

February brought 92 small and midsize business transactions, compared to 94 in February of 2009. Though the changing hands of business seemed flat in February, there was a 20% gain from Jan 2009 – Jan 2010 and there are positive forecasts for the future of 2010. George and Sharlee McNamee have, over the years, created a large picnic spot, complete with tables, benches, a bbq, shower and cabinets to their beach area that runs next to the public beach. After several court hearings, it has been decided that the McNamees must remove it all. The family may appeal to the California Supreme Court. WHOLE STORY
Costa Mesa day laborers resorted to silent soliciting, with only signs, in order to comply with a local ordinance. However, following an agreement with the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union of So Cal), the city will stop enforcing the ordinance so that men and women can get work. In exchange for the moratorium, the groups planning to sue Costa Mesa will hold off, as well. WHOLE STORY

Garry Heinrich, who teaches sixth-grade math and science at Bernice Ayer Middle School in San Clemente, is an example of a teacher who goes above and beyond. He coaches Ayer’s award-winning surf team, and every Wednesday at 6 a.m., rain or shine, he joins members of the team at T-Street to surf. (OC REGISTER)
